South Pattaya

South Pattaya

  • Camelot Hotel [SPH16; P] – http://www.camelotpattaya.net/; +66 38 429 933; This is a 1999 built hotel, purportedly in an “ancient British style” although it looks more like a 1930s German design. Rooms are neat but furnishings are a bit dated. Pricing from B1,200.
  • Diamond Beach Hotel [SPH01, P,G] – http://www.diamondbeachhotel.com/; +66 38 429 885; rsvn@diamondbeachhotel.com; Just as the Nana Hotel is a landmark proudly standing vanguard over Bangkok’s largest red light complex, the Diamond Beach Hotel is the equivalent landmark to Walking Street and Soi Diamond. This hotel opened in 1981 and was a big factor in making Soi Diamond and Walking Street the ubiquitous red light district that it now is. The hotel is very dated, but still an okay deal for its price and has reasonable food. We consider the better deals to be the deluxe rooms on the higher floors in the main (beach side) wing. Please note that this hotel sits amid the biggest single concentration of bars and gogos in Pattaya, therefore do not expect to get much sleep if staying at this hotel. There is a pool on the ground floor, but we never see anyone swimming in it and it seems to operate more as a large water feature. The better option may be the roof-top hot tub. Pricing from B1,200.
  • The Encore Hotel [SPH02; W] – http://theencorehotel.com/; +66 38 414 431; contact@theencorehotel.com; More of a guesthouse than a hotel, with basic but clean rooms. However, located in a more quiet part of soi 14, giving you a bit of peace while still close to everything. Pricing from B700.
  • Galaxy Suites [SPH03;] – http://www.galaxysuitespattaya.com/; +66 38 711 044; This boutique hotel is situated above Heavens Above a gogo. Accordingly, don’t expect to get much sleep. However, the rooms are very nicely decorated, but more suited to those intending to partake in the red light entertainment rather than regular holiday-makers. We highly recommend the Jacuzzi Suite. Pricing from B995 (add B300 in the peak, Christmas, season).
  • Grand Hotel [SPH04; W] – http://www.grandhotelpattaya.com/; +66 38 429 696; info@grandhotelpattaya.com; This is an old timer that has been around since at least the start of the 1980s and still offers good accommodation in the middle of Walking Street. Notwithstanding its location, the hotel itself is reasonably quiet, particularly on higher floors. Rooms have been nicely updated, especially the deluxe rooms (on higher floors, which also have the better views). Note, this hotel does also charge by the hour and the ground floor and lower level rooms are more commonly used for this. Pricing from B1,200.
  • The Green View Serviced Apartment Pattaya [SPH05; W] – http://www.thegreenviewpattaya.com/; +66 38 489 071; greenviewpattaya@gmail.com; Decent sized rooms that are quite nicely decorated and furnished. Notwithstanding it purports to be an apartment, we couldn’t find rooms with kitchenettes. Note, hotel policy requires guests to be at least 18 years (so you can’t stay here with your kids, although you shouldn’t be staying in South Pattaya with your kids in any event). Pricing from B1,300.
  • Jasmine Hotel [SPH06; W] – http://www.jasminehotel-pattaya.com/; +66 38 424 590; info@jasminehotel-pattaya.com; Located down Soi BJ (look for P.72 on the corner of Walking Street). This place is more like a serviced apartment, with kitchenette included in rooms. Furnishings are pretty basic but comfortable. There used to be an indoor pool, but the hotel replaced it with ground floor rooms due to non-usage. Pricing from B700 (add B50 outside of low season).
  • Le Prive [SPH17; P,W] – http://www.le-prive-pattaya.com/; +66 38 250 189; contact@le-prive-pattaya.com; This place is very much out of the ordinary in that it is a boutique resort containing six high end Thai-styled stand-alone bungalows built around a tropical garden with pool and small on-site golf course. Pricing from B2,800.
  • Manita Boutique Hotel [SPH07; P,W] – http://www.manitahotel.com/Manita_boutique_hotel/Home.html; +66 38 489 490-1; contact@manitahotel.com; This 2008 hotel looks a bit lonely sitting just on the edge of South Pattaya, at the foot of Pratamnak Hill. Rooms are modern and nicely furnished. The garden and pool areas are attractive. There is even a free shuttle to get you into Walking Street (even though Walking Street is a just a short walk away). Pricing from B1,400
  • Miracle Suite [SPH18; P,G] – http://www.lkpattaya.com/miracle/; +66 38 300 400; rsvn@lkpattaya.com; This is another ostentatious property owned by the LK group. Built in 2010, the rooms are nicely appointed with good lighting and good conveniences including flat screen TVs. Located near Walking Street but far enough away that you get some peace and quiet. Pricing from B1,785.
  • The Monaco Residence [SPH08; P] – No direct contact details available (book via an agent or online service); Located in a quiet part of Soi 16/1 (other than being next door to the go-kart track). This place is really more a serviced apartment than hotel. Rooms include kitchenette and this is a great place for longer stays. It is far enough off Walking Street to avoid the worst of the noise pollution, but still only hundreds of metres away. Unfortunately, to walk to Walking Street takes a bit longer since you need to first head out onto Second Road and then cut through the Siam Bayshore or Soi 16 (still only minutes away) Pricing from B1,000.
  • Nova Platinum Hotel Pattaya [SPH09; P,G,W] – http://www.novaplatinumhotelpattaya.com/; +66 38 711 345; Located at a busy intersection where Second Road meets Pratamnak Road, this hotel has very nicely appointed rooms and good facilities. Pricing from B1,500.
  • P.72 Hotel and Bar [SPH10;] – http://www.thepattayacity.com/P72Hotel/; +66 38 429 291; p72hotel@thepattayacity.com; Located on the corner of Soi BJ. This is one of the nicer hotels right on and in the centre of Walking Street. It has a nice and popular restaurant and bar on the ground floor. The rooms are adequately furnished and nicely sized. It is definitely good value for money, but given its central location, this place really only suits night owls. Pricing from B650.
  • PN Inn Hotel [SPH11; W] – No direct contact details available (book via an agent or online service); Located at the mid point of Soi BJ (look for P.72 on Walking Street, which marks the intersection with Soi BJ). This is a budget guesthouse type place, with basic rooms, but well located near the centre of the action in Walking Street. Pricing from B800.
  • Secrets Hotel [SPH12; W] – http://secretspattaya.com/; +66 38 416 914; reservations@secretspattaya.com; This is a bar and nightclub, restaurant and hotel all in one. Note there is also a VIP villa available elsewhere (not in South Pattaya). Also note that only the villa has a pool. Rooms are moderately furnished but tidy and with flat screen TV. The real benefit with this location is that it is a one-stop shop, and the owners even have a yacht that you can hire. Definitely not a place for families. Pricing from B895.
  • Siam Bayshore Resort and Spa [SPH13; P,G,T,W]– http://www.siambayshorepattaya.com/; +66 38 428 678; siambayshore@sukosolhotels.com. This is the Southern-most luxury resort in Pattaya bay and the original building was built in 1972. It’s location marks the end of Walking Street and because it owns the land on both sides of the street, this is the only part of Walking Street that is actually relatively peaceful. The main property is huge and has both a tropical pool within the lush gardens, as well as an infinity pool by the beach. This is one of our favourites and the only negative is the peace is broken slightly by the Chinese tour groups marching past heading between Bali Hai pier and Walking Street. Pricing from B2,900.
  • Signature Pattaya (aka Premier Signature Pattaya) [SPH14; P,W,G] – http://www.signaturepattaya.com/eng/; +66 38 418 333; stay@signaturepattaya.com; Nicely located a little back from Walking Street, but still with ocean views from higher rooms. Rooms are very nicely furnished and modern. Pricing from B1,600.
  • The Sun XClusive Hotel [SPH19; P,W] – http://www.sunxclusive.com/; +66 38 250 234; This is a fairly new hotel built in 2012. It is located near Walking Street, but at a major intersection (which is also a pain to cross to get to Walking Street). We would term the décor “no nonsense modern” and it includes flat screen TVs in each room. Definitely a good option for this price and location. Pricing from B1,300
  • Walking Street Guesthouse [SPH15;] – http://walkingstreetguesthouse.com/; info@walkingstreetguesthouse.com; Look for the Happy A GoGo sign as this place is just near the front of Soi Happy. This is as basic as you can get whilst still having aircon and non-shared hot water bathroom. Rooms have no windows, and stairways/hallways are very narrow. However, the rooms themselves are okay. Keep in mind most guests staying here pay by the hour. Pricing – B590.
