This hotel is shaped like a cruise ship, making it a landmark on Beach Road. It has full modern facilities and is located in a reasonably quiet area and offers beach views. Pricing from B2,600.
  • Amari Ocean Hotel Pattaya and Amari Garden Hotel Pattaya [NPH03; P,G,W] – www.amari.com (click on Ocean Pattaya or Garden Pattaya); +66 38 418 418; Originally the Amari Pattaya consisted of garden bungalows (with what was one of Pattaya’s nicest tropical gardens). It has now been replaced with the Ocean Hotel (a massive tower) and a low-rise hotel on the opposite side of the pool. There is a funky kids and teen club as well as some of Pattaya’s best restaurants. This (Ocean Hotel) is another that has made our top 5 list. Pricing from B3,000 (Garden Hotel) and B4,200 (Ocean Hotel).

  • Baan Khun Nine [NPH04; P,W] – www.baankhunnine.com/; +66 38 413-008-9; info@baankhunninne-pattaya.com; Recently built 8 storey boutique hotel with attractive rooms and small pool. Pricing from B1,800.
  • Baboona Beachfront Living [NPH05; G,W]– www.baboonabeach.com/ (website is seriously worth checking out); +66 38 488 720-22; info@baboonabeach.com; This is a very trendy and popular location situated on Beach Road with great beach views. As their website states “designed for the twenty-first century traveler”. Very modern and funky décor. Only downside is the lack of a pool. Pricing from B1,600.
  • Basaya Hotel and Restaurant (originally the Nipa Lodge, then Centera) [NPH06; P,W] – www.basayahotelresort.com/; +66 38 420 016-7; basayabeachhotel@hotmail.com; This is a real old-timer that originally opened in the 1960s and is the second oldest hotel still standing in Pattaya. It has not undergone that much change or renovation over the years (other than changes to the front of the hotel such as the new restaurant), but is situated in a great location. Although the hotel offers free wifi, many visitors report signal strength and connection problems. If you decide to stay here, we highly recommend you stay in the more expensive villas rather than the standard rooms. Pricing from B1,100.

  • Best Beach Villa [NPH08; P,G,W] – www.bestbeachpattaya.com/; +66 38 414 666; reservation@bestbeachpattaya.com; Average décor, but good location and offers good monthly rates for those who want to stay for extended periods. Pricing from B1,400 (although cheaper for long stays eg 35,000 per month).

  • Crown Pattaya Beach [NPH10; P] – No direct contact details available (book via an agent or online service); This is a reasonably new building in a great location and therefore good value for its location. Pricing from B1,100.
  • Dusit Thani Pattaya [NPH11; P,T,G,W] – www.dusit.com/dusitthani/pattaya; +66 38 425 611; dtpa@dusit.com; This was the site for the first resort to open in Pattaya in the 1950s (originally as the Grand Palace) and it has therefore secured the best location and done a good job with it, creating a private beach for its guests and offering a full complement of amenities. Located at the Northern point of Pattaya bay, this hotel offers great panoramic views of the entire bay, has superb restaurants and is in our top 5 list. Pricing from B4,100.

  • Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya (formerly the Merlin) [NPH12; P,G,T] – pattaya.hardrockhotels.net/; +66 38 428 755-9; Wifi is not officially free but most packages when you book tend to include bonus free wifi. Part of the International Hard Rock chain, and includes a Hard Rock Café out the front. The building itself was one of the early Pattaya luxury hotels built in the 1970s although with the significant renovations by Hard Rock, not much of the original hotel is recognizable. This is a great family hotel, offering a large pool, activities for children and adults all through the day and live music. Every Saturday is a foam party, first for kids, and later at night for the adults with either a resident or guest DJ spinning the tunes. Pricing from B4,000, although on-line discounts can get you down to B3,300.

  • Hotel Selection Pattaya (formerly Pattaya Beach Resort) [NPH14, P,G,W] – www.hotelselectionpattaya.com/; +66 38 362 000; rsvn@hotelselectionpattaya.com; Decent sized resort where all rooms face the beach. Well located with shops and restaurants nearby. Pricing from B1,700.

Although near the beach, it is hard to get a sea view from this hotel. Pet friendly. Pricing from B1,400.

Kitchenette is included and some of the larger rooms are really worthwhile in terms of being spacious and cleverly designed. Facilities include an indoor putting range. Pricing from B1,200 (from B1,900 for Regent Suite).
  • Kyo House (Serviced Apartment) [NPH17]; – facebook: kyohouse.pattaya; +66 38 429 201; Located on soi 6. Very recently opened serviced apartment with very nice rooms and modern bathrooms. Pricing from B600 (B300 more in high season).
  • Lord Nelson Guesthouse [NPH18] – www.lordnelson-pattaya.com/; +66 38 410 618; info@lordnelson-pattaya.com; Located on soi 6. Cozy guesthouse (9 rooms) with a nice pub on the ground floor. Unfortunately, no in-room wifi, but wifi is available downstairs. Simple rooms, Pricing from B700 (B200 more in the high season).
  • Mantra Pura Resort [NPH19; P,G,W] – No direct contact details available (book via an agent or online service); If for some reason you want to stay away from the beach and near the Pattaya to Bangkok bus station, then this is the place. It is a resort with decent sized rooms and attractive décor as well as a great tropical pool. Pricing from B1,200.

  • Mike Beach Resort [NPH21; P,W]– www.mikebeachresort.com/; +66 38 420 625-6; info@mikebeachresort.com; Part of the Mike Group (which includes a shopping centre and shopping arcade). This is a boutique resort originally constructed in the 1980s but has been decently renovated. Pricing from B1,200.
  • Montien Pattaya [NPH22; P,G,T] – www.montien.com/pattaya/; +66 38 428 155; respty@montien.com; This is the Pattaya chapter of an old Thai hotel chain, and the Pattaya resort has been around since 1979. Although the building is quite dated, it has been nicely maintained and offers some of the best tropical gardens and ponds in the Pattaya area. Each room has a sea view (although the lower floors may have their view obscured by the trees). Note, wifi is an additional cost item. Pricing from B4,400.

There is a great pub downstairs. This is a popular place for Soi 6 regulars. We recommend the Penthouse (Jasmine) suite with Jacuzzi. Pricing from B570 (penthouse is B2,200).

This is a more modern higher rise building on the 2nd Road side of Soi 1. Has attractive roof top pool and nicely furnished comfortable rooms. Pricing from B1,150.
  • Sabai Inn Pattaya [NPH27; P,W]– sabaiinn.com/; +66 38 361 939-42; resv@sabaiinn.com; Part of the Sabai group and guests are free to use the other Sabai group facilities (eg, the pool is actually at Sabai Lodge across the soi). This is an older hotel but still quite cozy. Pricing from B1,000.

  • Sabai Wing [NPH29, P,W] – www.sabailodge.co.th/; +66 38 362 154-6; sabailodge@csloxinfo.com; An extension to Sabai Lodge that is nicer than the original and hence slightly more expensive. Usually priced from B1,200 but occasionally there are cheap deals at around B990.

  • Seaside Guesthouse [NPH31; W] – ; +66 38 489 112-3; seasideguesthouse@yahoo.com; Small, cozy, cheap and well located. It’s worth spending a bit extra for the bigger rooms. Pricing from B600.
  • Seven Zea Chic Hotel [NPH32, P,W] – seaside-guesthouse.com/; +66 38 412 888; Great boutique hotel with tastefully decorated rooms and good views with full room height windows. Has a bit more of a serviced apartment feel to it. There is a great roof-top infinity pool overlooking Pattaya Bay. Pricing from B1,600.

Not bad for the price, but located next to drinking street, so expect late night noise (rooms 1-15 are quietest) and some of the guests will be renting by the hour. Note, no internet is provided.
